“Beckoning Valley of Flowers”

“Valley of Flowers” the name seems to be an instance from fairytale. Isn’t it folks! But it really exists in India. Here I will give a brief account of an interesting place which is called as “Valley of Flowers.” As the name signifies, so is the place.Other name of spirituality is nature the pious and unspoiled.

Once, I heard its reference in my geography class when I was in 7th grade. Valley of flowers is basically an Indian national park nestled in West Himalaya which comes in the region of Uttarakhand. The whole valley is adorned with meadows of endemic alpine flowers and numerous exotic and rare breeds of flora. The highly vegetation reached area has rare and endangered fauna like Asiatic Black Beer, Snow Leopard, Musk Deer, Brown Bear, Blue Sheep etc.  The valley is home for numerous lovely variety of bird species.In July 2005, it was declared as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

‘Valley of Flowers’ is 3352 to 3658 meters above sea level. The park is spread over the expanse of 8km long and 2km wide.  There is very interesting story associated with this place. In the year 1931, Frank S. Smythe, Eric Shipton and R.L. Holdsworth all British mountaineers got lost their way back from their adventurous expedition to Mt. Kamet and they lost the trail, they wandered into the valley and was astounded by seeing the panoramic view of the valley, it was beautifully blooming with several colors of flower and in different varieties. The view was so mesmerizing that they were so astounded that they spontaneously named it “Valley of Flowers.”  Later on Frank Smythe penned a book with the same title.

“Valley of Flowers” is located in inner Himalayan valley. The valley has micro-climate and is very well guarded by Himalaya from severity of southwest summer monsoon. The valley is snow covered for six to seven months from October to march. The valley comes to life when snow melts and life blooms with nature’s brightest colors, the valley turns up dotted with rainbow of colors and is not less than fairyland. The lovely spring season brings joyous colors of nature and valley looks lively, rapture and divine abode. The lush greenery, embellished with hues of nature is really hypnotizing, a completely fascinating and unforgettable eye feasting beauty! Cherishing memory whoever visit this unique place.
